About me
Hey SCECA members! I'm excited to be this year's SCECA Past President and look forward to being with you in person for our Annual Conference, in collaboration with SECA, Feb 3-5, 2022 in Myrtle Beach! Currently, I am Professor of Education at Columbia College - my home for the last 24 years! Prior to Columbia College, I was an elementary school principal (H.E. Corley Elementary) and assistant principal (Harbison West Elementary) in Irmo, SC. I have taught third, fourth, fifth and sixth grades prior to going into school administration.
At Columbia College, I established our student chapter of SCECA and have worked with our candidates on many projects focusing on the needs of learning centers and the students in those centers in the Eau Claire area of Columbia. I have also served on the Child Development Center Board, including its Chair, at Washington Street United Methodist Church, but that was some years ago!
Obviously, I share your passion for children and learning. One of the accomplishments I am most proud of during my tenure as Presidents of SCECA is our Statement of Commitment to Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (adopted, Oct 3, 2020).
